Renewing Our Liturgical Ministries - 12th November 2022

The Diocesan Liturgy Office has arranged for Fr Paul Turner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Missouri and Director of the Office of Divine Worship for the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St Joseph, to give some input to our Liturgical Ministers on ‘renewing our liturgical ministries’.  Fr Paul is an internationally renowned liturgist who was recently appointed by Pope Francis as a Consultor to the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

Fr Paul will be talking to our liturgical ministers, particularly ministers of hospitality, reading and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, in the Apostle Room of our cathedral on Saturday 12 November beginning at 10.30am and ending at 3.30pm.  Refreshments will be available from 10am, and participants will need to bring a packed lunch. To book, please email liturgy@cliftondiocese.com with ‘Fr Paul Turner’ in the subject line.

St Bernadette Relic Tour

On Saturday 10th September several members of our parish attended Clifton Cathedral where the Relics of St Bernadette were on display. There was a full programme planned the start of which was the Welcome Entrance and Procession of the Relics at 2-00pm.  Unfortunately, the vehicle bring the Relics was held up for several hours due to accident on the motorway.  The schedule therefore had to be changed.  While waiting for the Relics, the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary were said followed by individual Blessing with Holy Water from Lourdes and then individual anointing of the sick.  When the Relics finally arrived, they were displayed in the Sanctuary, and everyone joined in a wonderful celebration of Holy Mass.  It was an extremely memorable day.  - T.Hughes

Catholic Listeners Telephone Help Line

Catholiclisteners, is a new confidential helpline launched this year during Holy Week. The service which is part of the Diocese of Westminster, has been set up for those who are returning to the faith as well as to support those who need someone to talk to. The helpline is all about listening to others, listening to those who might have become isolated due to the pandemic. This service is based on the Landings ethos of compassionate listening. Although not a counselling service,  there is a professional team trained in signposting callers to other services and agencies.

For further information please email  Catholiclisteners@gmail.com

or call them on 0800 448 0704
