CAFOD Family Fast Day Appeal

Please donate to our Family Fast Day parish collection on 5th October to share God’s abundant gifts with our global neighbours as they find lasting solutions to poverty and climate challenges. Your generosity offers “signs of hope” in this Jubilee Year, helping build more water tanks in communities like Waré’s in Ethiopia where women have to walk for hours to get water. Use the CAFOD envelope in church, donate online at cafod.org.uk/envelope or call 0303 303 3030. You can also text CAFOD to 70560 to donate £10.

St Francis Leprosy Guild

Founded in 1895, St Francis Leprosy Guild (SFLG) is the UK’s only Catholic leprosy charity. Today, with Cardinal Vincent Nichols as our patron, SFLG supports work in 13 countries, caring for people who have been marginalised by leprosy. We aim to detect and diagnose people affected by leprosy as early as possible to stop the transmission of the disease and prevent life-changing disabilities occurring.

The Catholic community can help end leprosy in our lifetime.  Connected by our shared values and faith, with your support we can reach the most vulnerable and stop leprosy for good.  To make a donation or learn more about St Francis Leprosy Guild, please visit our website www.stfrancisleprosy.org or contact us at parishes@stfrancisleprosy.org if you would like to discuss ways of supporting our work.

Sea Sunday, 13th July 2025

Sunday 13th July is Sea Sunday, when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea.  Seafarers and fishers play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions.

The number of crews abandoned by their employers is still at a record high.  Conflicts around the world are compromising their safety, and many are experiencing stress and poorer mental health.

The special collection today is for Stella Maris (Apostleship of the Sea), the Catholic Church's official maritime agency.  It supports seafarers both practically and spiritually.  Stella Maris is dependent on voluntary donations, so please give generously.  To donate, please visit www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate or text 'SEA' to 70460 to donate £5.  Thank you.

There will be a retiring collection in church on Sunday 13th July.

Encounter 2025 on 1st February 2025

Encounter 2025 is a Diocesan wide programme between Easter and  Pentecost.  It will empower parishioners to have a better understanding of the Holy Spirt, a closer relationship with God and to be able to explain the reasons for their faith. Many people have said that they find it difficult to explain why they are Catholic or even a Christian. Grandparents are sad that their children and grandchildren no longer attend Mass.  All are welcome to our initial planning event on 1st February 2025 between 9.30 and 1 pm at St Bernadettes, 731 Wells Rd, Bristol, BS14 9HU. For more information, email pentecost@cliftondiocese.com.
